With locations in Madagascar, the western islands of the Indian Ocean and East Africa, Galana is a regional entity with an in-depth knowledge of its customers and their needs. As a Group on a human scale whose roots lie in the very countries in which we operate, Galana is easily approachable by customers and consumers alike. Galana’s core activity is its refinery, with a capacity of 540,000 metric tons of crude oil per year. It is located at Madagascar’s main port of Toamasina (Tamatave), and as such constitutes an unmatched resource in the islands of the Indian Ocean region. With its refinery and its oil terminal, the Group operates Madagascar’s largest industrial facility. The refinery configuration accommodates crudes from various sources and produces a wide range of finished products. The terminal handles 85% of the petroleum product supply to the Madagascar market; it is also equipped to blend the low-sulfur fuel oil dispatched to other countries in the region.
